This collection of papers thoroughly documents most aspects of the life and work of Boris Sapir, particularly his activities as a Menshevik leader and writer in the Russian emigration, and as an historian of Russian populism and socialism. Materials on his work as a Menshevik include correspondence with his colleagues, significant files on the "Foreign Delegation" in Germany in the 1920s-30s, and on its "New York Center" in the 1940s-50s, an extensive collection of photographs of his fellow Mensheviks, and files and manuscripts relating to the Inter-University Project on the History of Menshevism from the 1960's. Concerning Sapir's career as an historian and archivist, there is material he used for his many publications in the field, correspondence with scholars and students (mostly asking his guidance, or thanking him for it), and some of his own manuscripts. There is a great deal of material on his personal life as well, in particular in his correspondence, in files on his biography, bibliography, and posthumous "rehabilitation, " and in his manuscript and photograph collections. Less well documented are his two decades of work with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. Besides the importance of the papers generated by Sapir himself, this collection is an excellent source for work on the Mensheviks because he was entrusted by his friends and colleagues with their own papers. These materials help to document the history of Menshevism particularly from the still hopeful years of the "Foreign Delegation" in Germany in the 1920s, to the last years of the "New York Center, " including its internal disputes in the 1950s, soon followed by the deaths of those Mensheviks who had survived the many years of wars and persecutions. Some of the materials go back to the pre-revolutionary era, through memoirs on the early years of Russian Marxism (1890s-1917). The entire collection consists of approximately 24, 000 items, spanning 1898-1992. Most of it consists of Sapir's own papers.

The papers of Maslovskiĭ consist of correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, and subject files. Among the correspondents are Mark Aldanov, General Nikolaĭ I︠U︡denich, and many former Russian officers. Manuscripts consist largely of Maslovskiĭ's bound typescript memoirs"Nekotorye stranit︠s︡y moeĭ zhizni" (ca. 2,200 p.); the manuscript version of the first six volumes of the memoirs is also included, as is a memoir about his service in Persia in 1909-1914. Subject files include correspondence, manuscripts, and printed materials about his research on World War I, his book, General I︠U︡denich, and other topics.

This small collection consists of correspondence, a short typescript biography of T︠S︡itron by an unidentified author, and clippings of articles by T︠S︡itron in emigre Russian newpapers. Correspondence includes one letter each by Mark Aldanov and Oskar Gruzenberg, and nine by Vasiliĭ Maklakov.

There are notes from Evgeniĭ Chirikov and Aleksandr Kuprin, and the autographs of Mark Aldanov, Ivan Bunin, and Nikolaĭ I︠U︡denich. There are manuscripts and notes by Mashukov and others, chiefly on the Civil War. Subject files also touch on the Civil War, as does much of the printed material.

The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, several photographs, documents, financial records, subject files and printed material. The correspondence is chiefly from the period 1925-1958 and includes letters from Mark Aldanov, Anton Denikin, Ivan Shmelev and one or two items each from Ivan Bunin, Pavel Mili︠u︡kov, Alekseĭ Remizov etc. The documents and financial records are primarily personal and the subject files include materials on a number of commemorative celebrations and on various exile organizations in France.

Correspondence, manuscripts, subject files and printed materials of Velḿin. The correspondence includes letters from Mark Aldanov, Mikhail Karpovich, Ekaterina Kuskova, Vasiliĭ Maklakov, Mikhail Taube, and Mark Weĭnbaum. Most of the manuscripts are by Velḿin himself and concern the Russian emigration in Poland, the 1917 Revolution and Civil War, and German concentration camps during World War II. The collection likewise contains Velḿin's diary (handwritten in eleven volumes) covering the 1900-1960 period. There are subject files devoted to Vasiliĭ Maklakov and to the activities of the Russian scouts, and there are numerous publications, such as journals, pamphlets, clippings and books.

The collection includes correspondence, photographs, manuscripts and printed materials. There are letters from Ekaterina Kuskova (Mrs. S.N. Prokopovich) and photographs of Mark Aldanov, Marie Curie, Aleksandra Kollontaĭ, Ekaterina Kuskova, Pavel Mili︠u︡kov, Mikhail Osorgin, Sergeĭ Prokopovich and Nadezhda Teffi among others. The manuscripts include drafts and typescripts for several dozen articles and chapters as well as untitled manuscripts and notes. The printed materials contain clippings and offprints of articles by Prokopovich, periodicals he edited, and copies of his major books.

There are letters from Mark Aldanov, Konstantin Balḿont, Aleksandr Benois, Pavel Mili︠u︡kov, Alekseĭ Remizov, Marina T︠S︡vetaeva, and many others. Also included are two poems by Aminad Shpoli︠a︡nskiĭ (Dom-Aminado; one of the poems is incomplete), and poems by Konstantin Balḿont and Georgiĭ Adamovich; the latter two both concern "Poslednie Novosti.".

Correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, subject files and printed materials of Burt︠s︡ev. The correspondence includes letters from Mark Aldanov, Anton Denikin, Sergeĭ Melǵunov, Boris Nikolaevskiĭ, Maurice Paleòlogue, Sergeĭ Shtern, I︠A︡kov T︠s︡vibak, Mark Vishni︠a︡k and Vladimir Zeeler. Among the manuscripts are two essays by Burt︠s︡ev as well as numerous notes and manuscript fragments. There are several photographs of Burt︠s︡ev. The subject files include materials on "Byloe", items concerning Burt︠s︡ev's own archive, and materials on "Obshchee delo.".

The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, a photograph, and printed material, primarily from the period 1941-1957. Included are letters from Ivan Bunin, Marc Chagall, Mikhail Karpovich, Vasiliĭ Maklakov, W. Somerset Maugham, Vladimir Nabokov, Ili︠́a︡ Repin, Edmund Wilson, Boris Zaĭt︠s︡ev and many others. Manuscripts of his works include "Istoki""Nachalo kont︠s︡a""Zhivi, kak khochesh"́, and "The Escape" (English translation of "Begstvo"), such shorter tales as "Noch ́v terminale""Povest ́o smerti", and "Ulḿskai︠a︡ noch"́, as well as numerous articles, book reviews and essays. There are financial records for "Novyĭ Zhurnal", which Aldanov helped found, and the clippings are mainly articles about Aldanov. There is one late photograph of Aldanov.
