Original and reprographic architectural drawings of Craftsman homes designed by The Craftsman Architects from offices in Syracuse and New York City, under the direction of Gustav Stickley, most of which were published nearly monthly in THE CRAFTSMAN magazine. Sixteen architectural designs for private clients, seven Craftsman fireplace-furnace systems for private clients, and additional drawings for Craftsman hardware are also included.

This collection contains correspondence, memos, articles, speeches, lectures, transcripts, clippings, notes, printed matter, photographs, audiotapes, and memorabilia mainly relating to Douglas Haskell's editorship at Architectural Forum and his professional activities. The collection includes items dating from 1866 to 1979, with the majority of materials dating from the period of 1949 to 1964.

Over 1,000 architectural projects are represented either in the paper records, the architectural drawings, or both.

Principle projects represented include the Lesbian & Gay Community Services Center in Manhatan; renovations and alterations to the New York State Capitol building in Albany, New York. Correspondence, reports, memoranda, case records, photographs and printed material. The archive include central and district administrative records; cammittee correspondence and minutes; and files on the various programs--such as sheltered workshops, tuberculosis sanitariums and health centers, public baths and employment bureaus--run by the two organizations. The archive also contains hundreds of photographs, including works by Lewis Hine and Jessie Tarbox Beals; extensive casework files from the beginning of social work (originally referred to as "friendly visiting among the poor"); and copies of masters and doctoral theses from the New York School of Sociel Work and other schools. Much of the research for these theses was based on the CSS files
