The office files of the American Institute of Pacific Relations and the international Institute of Pacific Relations, containing correspondence and reports concerned with international conferences, research programs, and publications programs of both Institutes, and relating to the political, economic, and social problems in eastern and southern Asia and the South Pacific, as well as with problems of American foreign policy. There are many travel letters and on-the-spot reports relating to conditions in China, Japan, Russia, Australia, the Philippines, India, and Pakistan during the period 1933 to 1954.

Arranged alphabetically, these individual portraits of Columbia University faculty members are black and white images mounted on heavy cardboard with the name of the individual typed underneath the image. Names that begin with L-M-N-O-P and Q are missing from this collection.

Correspondence, manuscripts, and printed files. The papers deal mostly with Greene's academic career as a history professor at University of Illinois and at Columbia University; with his activities in various professional and social organizations; and, to a lesser extent, his travels, studies, and personal and family matters. Among the major correspondents are such public figures as Louis D. Brandeis, Felix Frankfurter, and James Jules Jusserand; and such prominent historians as James Truslow Adams, Henry Steele Commager, Samuel Eliot Morison, Richard B. Morris, and Allan Nevins.

Correspondence, manuscripts, notes, notebooks, photographs, printed materials, computer print-outs and tapes, key-punched cards, and card files of Schiller. The collection includes correspondence with his professional colleagues, foundations, and learned societies, and some personal correspondence. There are manuscripts and drafts of his books, articles, book reviews, lectures, and abstracts, his papers as a student, notebooks of readings and drafts, appointment books, mimeographed course materials, photostats, photographs, and materials relating to his computer studies of Roman law texts. Correspondents include Sir Harold Idris Bell, W.W. Buckland, W.E. Crum, Gilbert Highet, H.F. Jolowicz, Owen Lattimore, and Harold Medina.

The materials that comprise the Historical Biographical Files have been collected and added to from a variety of sources over the years by current and previous staff. The files consist of materials related to people who have a connection to the University whether as student, alumni, administrator, faculty, staff, guest lecturer, or honorary degree recipient. Materials generally consist of newspaper and magazine clippings, press releases, programs, ephemera, printed matter, lists, reports, and pamphlets.

Manuscripts of books and short stories written and published by various authors, many with Columbia University connections. This collection began as the result of a letter sent to authors with Columbia connections asking if they would consider the University Libraries as a place of deposit for the manuscripts of their published works. The collection grows as new authors deposit their works and new manuscripts are added to those already on deposit
