Arthur Jeffery (1892-1959) was Professor of Semitic languages at Columbia University from 1938 until his death. This collection of manuscripts, typescripts, manuscript notes and typescript notes with some related correspondence reflects Jeffery's research and writing on the vocabulary and history of the text of the Koran.

Felix Adler, religious leader and educator, taught courses in social and political ethics at Columbia between 1902 and 1933. The collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, typescripts, notes, photographs, and printed materials.

The Federal Council of the Churches of Christ in America (FCC), officially founded in 1908, differed from other Christian Unity movements due to its emphasis on cooperation between denominations through service rather than an attempt to unite upon definitions of theology and polity. In 1950 the FCC was integrated into the National Council of Churches. This collection contains newspaper and magazine articles, journals, pamphlets, booklets, correspondence, minutes, reports, and position papers.

This collection details conversations discussing topics such as unity, baptism, women in the Church, the Eucharist and intercommunion, mixed or intermarriage, the nature of sin, and the purpose and role of the Church, and includes papers written by experts of all faiths including Peter Day, an ecumenical officer for the Episcopal Church, Bishop Arthur A. Vogel of the Anglican Church, Bishop Charles H. Helmsing of the Roman Catholic Church, and Robert T. Handy, a Baptist pastor and Professor of Church History at Union Theological Seminary. The collection also contains records of minutes, reports, correspondence, position papers, and books and news statements drafted at bilateral meetings of the Roman Catholic Church and various Protestant churches.

The second Vatican Council, also known as Vatican II, was the twenty-first Ecumenical Council of the Roman Catholic Church, convoked by Pope John XXIII and held from 1962-1965. It was preceded by Vatican I (1869-1870), which was the first council to be held since the closing of the Council of Trent in 1563. This collection contains two scrapbooks of New York Times clippings about Vatican II, and a collection of articles defending Catholic theologian Hans Küng.
