Correspondence, manuscripts, speeches, notebooks, notes, teaching materials, subject files, clippings, printed materials and books of Ernest Nagel. Included among the correspondence are William J. Bennett, Rudolph Carnap, Kurt Gödel, Adolph Grünbaum, C. G. Hemple, Paul Lazarsfeld, William J. McGill and Morton White. The collection's manuscripts include most of Nagel's essays and articles as well as drafts of his major works, including "The Structure of Science" (1961). The teaching materials contain syllabi, reading lists and lecture plans from the philosophy courses Nagel taught at Columbia. The collection also includes numerous manuscripts and printed materials by other authors which were inscribed to Nagel. In addition, there are printed materials and printed books by Nagel at the end of the collection.

Correspondence, manuscripts, notes, documents, course materials, organization files, photographs, and printed materials of John Herman Randall, Jr. Included among the cataloged correspondence are lengthy philosophical exchanges between Randall and Harry Elmer Barnes, Wendell T. Bush, John J. Coss, John Dewey, Irwin Edman, William Ernest Hocking, Corliss Lamont, Sterling P. Lamprecht, Arthur O. Lovejoy, Reinhold Niebuhr, Herbert W. Schneider, and Frederick J.E. Woodbridge, and in the uncataloged series, Horace Friess, James Gutmann, and Paul O. Kristeller. A separate series contains family correspondence consisting primarily of letters from Randall to his wife, Mercedes Irene Moritz Randall, during their courtship and early marriage. Randall's manuscripts include drafts of many of his articles and essays (a number of which became chapters in several of his books) as well as typescripts, proofs and related materials for many of his books, notably THE CAREER OF PHILOSOPHY, VOLUMES I-III, ARISTOTLE, THE MAKING OF THE MODERN MIND, NATURE AND HISTORICAL EXPERIENCE, PLATO, and THE ROLE OF KNOWLEDGE IN WESTERN RELIGION.

The Julian Clarence Levi collection documents the life and activities of a twentieth century American architect and philanthropist. The collection consists of watercolor study drawings developed while Levi was a student at Columbia University and the École des Beaux Arts; architectural drawings, photographs and records for architectural projects designed and developed in association with his partner Alfred S. Taylor from 1907 until 1962; professional papers from various committees and societies Levi was associated with; personal papers and photographs, including documentation on his family and office, his academic and professional recognitions, public events, travels and social gatherings as a former Columbia alumnus; and various prints and photographs of buildings and European artists collected by Levi throughout his life.

His own set of psychology subject headings include both general and specific topics such as behavior, color, experimental psychology, learning, memory, perception, personality, sensation, etc. These files contain manuscripts, notes, psychological tests, test data, revisions, for his monographs and other research materials. In addition to the subject files, there is some general, personal and family correspondence; manuscripts of his articles, lectures, addresses, curricular materials, biographical files and photographs. The printed materials consist of his personal collection of reprints of psychological literature arranged according to his own subject headings; reprints by colleagues, some inscribed and signed with his annotations; and books from his library, some of which contain his markings and comments

Correspondence, outlines and drafts, manuscripts, letters of agreement, contracts, photographs, artwork, and memorabilia. The collection is divided into two parts: the Frederic Dannay papers and the files of ELLERY QUEEN'S MYSTERY MAGAZINE (EQMM). The Dannay papers consist of extensive correspondence with most of the notable mystery writers of this century, as well as well-known authors who sometimes wrote in that genre: Isaac Asimov; Lawrence Block; Ray Bradbury; Perl S Buck; Edgar Rice Burroughs; James M. Cain; Raymond Chandler; Agatha Christie, etc. Most of the novels and short stories written by Dannay and Lee are represented in manuscript form: "The Roman Hat Mystery;" "Ten Day's Wonder;" "Cat of Many Tails;" "The Scarlet Letters;" "The Glass Village;" "The Player on the Other Side;" "And on the Eighth Day" etc. In addition, there are the manuscripts of books edited by Ellery Queen; manuscripts by Ellery Queen Jr.; scripts by Ellery Queen; poetry by Dannay; contracts between Dannay and Lee, as well as between them both as Ellery Queen and numerous parties.
