The correspondence files consist of General Correspondence for the letters K-M, 1929-1943 and a special group which relate to the founding of the Haus in 1929. There are letters and tributes from many well known people on the occasion of the opening of the Haus. There are also correspondence documenting its function as an information center for German Studies. Among the correspondence are: Max Brod, George Eastman, Kuno Francke, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Thomas Mann, Edwin Markham, Andrew Mellon, Max Planck, Arthur Schnitzler, Jakob Wasserman, Arnold Zweig, and Stephan Zweig

12.5 linear feetOrganizational records of Christodora House, a settlement house and social services provider on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The bulk of the records are administrative. These records include minutes and annual reports of the Christodora House Board of Directors, dating from the organization's founding in 1897, as well as documentation of its funding sources and organizational history. There are also records of clubs run by Christodora House, the bulk of which date from circa 1900 through the 1930s, and photographs and scrapbooks, circa 1900 through 1960.
