0.5 Linear FeetCorrespondence with Stern consists of about 200 letters (including picture postcards--one of Stern's preferred modes of communication), starting in 1964 and continuing with fair regularity until 2016. Many of them consist of requests for comments on manuscripts, others touch on issues having to do with Columbia, still others provide advice to his correspondent on personal and career matters. Not a few are simply exchanges between friends. Also included in the collection are a number of typed draft manuscripts and of inscribed offprints.

Larson's correspondence consists of professional correspondence relating to historical research; his work at the United States National Archives, including correspondence with Philip Hamer while preparing a special survey of archival materials in the U.S. Virgin Islands under a Works Progress Administration grant, 1936-1937; genealogical research; and personal correspondence with family and friends. Manuscripts by Larson relate to Alexander Hamilton, Bjørnson, Bjørnstjerne, Danish National Archives, archival research in the U. S. Virgin Islands, and the U.S. Army activities in Korea and in the Virgin Islands.

484 DVDsThis collection consists of 257 video recordings (from 484 dvds) capturing various GSAPP events conducted from 2005 to 2010. These events encompass lectures, debates, conferences, and symposia and feature practicing architects, architectural historians and theorists, preservationists, and other influential figures within the architectural field. Currently, we are in the process of digitizing these video recordings, and they will be accessible online to Columbia affiliates upon completion [anticipated summer 2024]. Additionally, these recordings will be made available to the public in our reading room. They have been organized chronologically, with undated recordings appearing at the end of the collection.

25 Linear FeetThis collection of correspondence and subject files details a variety of episodes and projects from the career of Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Eric Foner. Included are travel diaries from visits to Africa and the former Soviet Union, as well as correspondence related to Prof. Foner's work with the National Park Service and the Walt Disney Company in rewriting historical markers. It also features reviews and correspondence related to Foner's numerous published books, as well as his professional and scholarly career. It also contains research materials for Foner's major books.
James Truslow Adams papers, 1918-1949
15 linear feetThe collection is composed of the correspondence files of the James Truslow Adams. The majority of the letters were written to Adams by various contemporary historians, educators, public figures, business associates, friends and family. The material ranges in date from 1918-1949. The letters are concerned with the following: Adams' literary activities and the publication of his writings; contemporary politics; personal and business affairs; requests and solicitations from individuals and groups for support, etc.; scholarly and academic activities. While very few original letters sent by Adams are present, there exist margin notes in his own hand on incoming letters indicating the nature of his reply. Of special note are six volumes of mounted letters and clippings relating to President Roosevelt's plan to reorganize the United States Supreme Court. Adams was an opponent of the plan.

10 document boxesThis collection is composed primarily of correspondence, memoranda, course material, photographs, drawings and slides. Much of the material pertains to Herdeg's career as a professor at Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art and Planning as well as his career as a professor and subsequent department head at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation (GSAPP). Many of the photographs are proofs used in Herdeg's Formal Structure in Indian Architecture and Formal Structure in Islamic Architecture of Iran and Turkistan. The basis for the series and subseries order was developed from Herdeg's own groupings. For the majority of the collection, Herdeg's folder titles have been maintained and the material has been arranged chronologically.
