Papers, correspondence, manuscripts, clippings, and printed material relating to Dr. Bela Fabian's activities against the Communist government of Hungary. One microfilm reel of Hungarian political cartoons, including many caricatures of Fabian. Also, eighteen political cartoons by Bela and Ilona Fabian done at the time of the Cuban Missile crisis in 1961. These tend to be anti-Castro and anti-Khruschev.

The collection includes photocopies of letters by Josef Cardinal Mindszenty and an undated photograph of Pope Paul VI. The arranged correspondence dates from 1947 to 1980. There are manuscripts by a number of Hungarian emigres as well as by Pfeiffer himself. The subject files contain information on the Assembly of Captive European Nations. Among the printed materials are 49 folders of newspaper articles by or about Pfeiffer. In addition, there are seven reels of 7 1/2" audio tape containing interviews with Pfeiffer.

The collection consists of transcripts of the 401 interviews which were done. There is one complete bound set, and one set of loose interviews, nos. 100-626. Most of the interviews cover the following topics: the revolt of 1956, personal life, work experience, economic conditions, social problems, education, friends and family, government, party, police, army, communications, ideology, attitudes, and opinions. There are also a few more unstructured interviews defined as "open ended conversations , largely with expert informants" covering topics such as those above but also including religious affairs, the intelligentsia, and Hungary and the Soviet Union.

The bulk of the correspondence dates from 1919-1956. There is much family correspondence, diaries covering the years, 1919-1955 (except for 1946), and printed materials by and about Jászi. Also, Letters to and from Anna Lesznai Gergely (Amália Moscovitz Jászi) and others.

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs and printed materials of Imre Kovács. The voluminous correspondence includes letters to and from his family in the U.S. and Hungary. The professional correspondence is primarily concerned with contemporary events in Hungary, Latin America and Asia and covers the years 1947-1980. Correspondents include many prominent Hungarians such as Belá Varga, Ferenc Nagy, Oscar Jaszi and Albert Szent-György. There are political and literary manuscripts, book reviews and lectures by Kovács, as well as background materials for his books "The Ninety and Nine" and "The Hearing." Subject files reflect Kovác's involvement with Hungarian emigre organizations and his work for Radio Free Europe and their Hungarian service. There are also files on the Free Europe Press and the Free Europe Committee. Kovác's 1957 trip to Asia and the Middle East is documented through correspondence, clippings and photographs. Similar coverage is provided for Kovác's 1963 trip to Latin America for the International Center for Social Research. There are related subject files on Latin American agrarian reform and campesino leadership training. Printed materials include articles by Kovács and others, as well as miscellaneous publications of the Hungarian emigration.
