The collection consists of carbon copies of letters from the files of two Board members: Richard H. Logsdon and Francis R. St. John. The correspondence is chiefly between Anita N. Hostetter, Secretary of the Board, and other Board members. These records concern library school programs, curricula, course outlines, examinations, accreditation, and related matters.

The papers, which consist to a large extent of mimeographed and printed reports of various organizations with which Evans was affiliated, chronicle a wide range of his activities in the fields of law, international relations, and library service. Among the cataloged correspondents are: Dorothy Canfield Fisher, Norman Cousins, S. Radhakrishnan, and Paul H. Douglas.

These were the working files of Jack Dalton who was Director of ALA's International Relations Office, 1956-1959. The internal office files of the Board and Committee are also included.

Several topics of note are the 1926 meeting to honor Margaret Mann; the 1926 cooperative cataloging issue; and the 1946 American Library Association constitution matter.
