This collection contains 249 black and white photographic negatives of buildings within the designated slum clearance area of the Lincoln Square Urban Renewal Project in New York City. The photographer is unidentified. Address locations are identified in the negative.

This collection contains primarily typescript correspondence between James Felt and Robert Moses, dated from December 1955 to October 1962. Topics mainly concern issues of urban planning and development in New York City on which Felt and Moses held divergent viewpoints. In particular contention were slum clearance projects funded under Title I of the Housing Act of 1949. Also included are meeting minutes, internal memos, several event programs, a postcard, and a newspaper clipping.

Correspondence, memoranda, position papers, campaign materials, speeches, photographs, and printed materials relating primarily to Samuels' unsuccessful 1970 campaign for governor of New York. Included with the collection are campaign materials for other candidates, and campaign buttons for Samuels, Nelson A. Rockefeller, and others. Major correspondents include William Averell Harriman, Hubert Horatio Humphrey, LeRoi Jones, Edward I. Koch, John V. Lindsay, Robert Moses, and Edmund S. Muskie.

The materials that comprise the Historical Biographical Files have been collected and added to from a variety of sources over the years by current and previous staff. The files consist of materials related to people who have a connection to the University whether as student, alumni, administrator, faculty, staff, guest lecturer, or honorary degree recipient. Materials generally consist of newspaper and magazine clippings, press releases, programs, ephemera, printed matter, lists, reports, and pamphlets.

The papers relate to numerous organizations--social, political, civic, and philanthropic--with which he was associated. Among these organizations are Legal Aid Society; Prison Association of New York; Outdoor Recreation League; Socialist Democratic League and National Party; American Alliance for Labor and Democracy; Constitutional Democracy Association; National Security League; YMCA, etc. Included among the papers are his journals and diaries, 1884-1950. An incomplete set of his letterbooks 1905-1960 and some family papers relating to real estate and financial matters
