A collection of over 1,300 nineteenth-century maps published for use by tourists and cyclists. Approximately seventy-five percent of the maps depict Italian provinces, but Great Britain and other European countries (especially Switzerland and Germany) are also represented. There are a few maps of non-European countries as well. Most of the maps are mounted on linen and many are folded into cardboard cases as issued. The collection also includes a few guidebooks (published in a set with separate maps) and post card views

Correspondence, subject files, corporate committee files, corporate reports, yearly appointment calendars, biographical materials, photographs, books from his personal library, memorabilia and works of art. Correspondence includes 3 bound slipcased volumes containing 471 letters, notes and congratulatory telegrams on the occasion of R.D. Lilley being named President of AT&T, April 1, 1972. Correspondents include David Rockefeller and Peter W. Rodino, Jr. Subject files contain Columbia University activities. Manuscript files include his student notebooks from the School of Engineering (1931) and the School of Mines (1934-1935). Corporate committee files include the New Jersey Commission on Civil Disorders, 1967-1968. Memorabilia consists of seven Columbia University related plaques, awards, citations, and varsity letters and fifteen Columbia related commemorative gifts and tokens, as well as thirty-five non-Columbia related diplomas, plaques, awards, citations and certificates and fifty-five non Columbia related trophies, commemorative gifts, and presentation pen & pencil sets. The works of art include two views of the Park Place building "Columbia College New-York" (NEW YORK MIRROR, 1828) and "Columbia College and College Green" (New York, 1830) facsimile reprint of the "Palm tree print"; a print of a drawing of "Columbia University circa 1903" from the Avery Library; two signed prints of Ernest D. Roth "Hamilton Hall" and the "School of Mines"; and a relief print of "John Jay" by Stanley Wyatt.

Letters addressed to the Cranes from various members of the Crane and Howorth families, and from prominent literary figures such as Joseph Conrad, Henry James, H.G. Wells, George Bernard Shaw, Hamlin Garland, Elbert Hubbard, and Rider Haggard. A number of these letters relate to Cora Crane's activities after Stephen Crane's death, but the majority have to do with life at Brede Place in Sussex. Also present are a number of holograph manuscripts of Stephen Crane's literary works and manuscripts and typescripts of other material which he dictated. There is a group of stories and articles by Cora Crane, some pictures, photographs, art, and memorabilia. Also, seventy-four books from Crane's library, many of them signed.

Black and white glass slides of theaters, actors, and actors in productions, portraits depicting contemporary costumes beginning with Greek amphitheaters. Most of the slides are from contemporary 19th-century prints.

A collection of autographs of Latin American patriots and Hispanic loyalists living in the Viceroyalty of Perú during the 19th century. The collection provides a valuable look into daily life in the viceroyalty. Documents to and from military leaders on both sides of the War for Independence describe day to day events of the war (requests for supplies, mess, prisoner and hospital lists, etc.). Among the items by patriots represented in the collection are: a decree by Simón Bolivar, dated 1825, setting up a school system that "la debe igualmente a todos..individuos."; a decree by Tomas de Heres creating the coat-of-arms of Perú, and the heraldry and wording for silver and gold coins of the new government; a list by José Medina of the survivors of the "Vendedores" squadron after the battle of Ayachucho; a letter of José de San Martín to Francisco de Paula Otero; a letter by Antonio José de Sucre to Manuel Martínez de Aparicio; and a letter by José de La Mar to Joaquín de la Pezuela. Among the loyalists represented are: José Fernando de Abascal y Souza, Fernando VII, José Antonio de Areche, Jerónimo Marrón de Lombera, José de Mendizábal e Imaz, Joaquín de la Pezuela, José Manuel Goyeneche, and Manuel Quimper. Also in the collection are two letters by Secretary of State William H. Seward, and two 16th century documents signed by the "conquistadores" Francisco Pizarro and Juan de la Torre. A second box, added in 1980, contains printed and miscellaneous materials from the 1950s.

Included are about 800 letters from outstanding literary figures of Mr. Conway's lifetime, manuscripts of his sermons, lectures and other writings and photostats of Conway material in Dickinson College Library. Among the cataloged correspondents are: Thomas Carlyle, S.L. Clemens, Arthur Conan Doyle, R.W. Emerson, O.W. Holmes, and Walt Whitman

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, memorabilia and printed materials of John Mitchel, John Purroy Mitchel, and other members of the Mitchel and Purroy families. The collection concerns Irish nationalism, family matters, Purroy family business interests in Central America, the John Purroy Mitchel Memorial and William Brown Meloney's files relating to his research and writing of "The Story of John Purroy Mitchel" along with the manuscript and typescript drafts for this unpublished biography.

Correspondence, manuscripts, papers, essays, etc. relating to Berlioz, and 19th century arts and literature. The correspondence includes original Berlioz letters and over 200 copies of letters relating to Berlioz and the romantic era, written by musicians, critics, historians, and literateurs of the past century. There are many photostats of letters and manuscripts obtained from the principal libraries of the world which hold original Berlioz material. The collection includes much printed material in the form of music scores, published letters, essays, clippings, biographies, music and book catalogues, program notes, and playbills.

Correspondence and inscribed photographs sent to Paul Palmer. Mr. Palmer has collected portraits of film and theater notables and other celebrities since the 1920s. Many of the photographs are inscribed to him and there is some correspondence as well as lobby display cards.
