Among the cataloged correspondence are letters from John Haynes Holmes, Fiorello Henry LaGuardia, Edith Kermit Roosevelt, and Eleanor Roosevelt. The arranged correspondence is filed chronologically with annual folders for materials from Isaacs' terms as Manhattan Borough President and bulk date folders for general, personal and topical correspondence. There is a file of correspondence with Mrs. Edith S. Isaacs concerning her biography of Stanley M. Isaacs"Love Affair with a City." Also includes manuscripts by her, and other material relating to her and her charitable work. Addresses, essays and lectures are included in the manuscript files. Among the subject files are campaign materials for the City Councilman elections, 1937, 1941, 1957, etc. There is a brochure from the Dedication of the East River Drive (June 18, 1940) and the New Municipal Asphalt Plant (May 24, 1944), as well as newspaper clippings and other printed political pamphlets and reports. The biographical materials include facts for speakers, personal legal papers and memorial statements. There are three photographs. Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, notes, notecards, journals, diaries, photographs, slides, memorabilia and printed materials documenting Goodrich's career in the field of Chinese language and history, as well as materials on the cultural affairs of twentieth century China. Among the cataloged correspondence are Joseph Alsop, Pearl S. Buck, Norman Cousins, Philip C. Jessup, H.H. Kung, Owen Lattimore, and Nathan Pusey. Part of the collection is arranged in Goodrich's alphabetical subject/name file and the remainder is arranged alphabetically. The correspondence is from colleagues, students, business associates, friends, etc. The subject files are on a variety of topics concerning China, the Far East, printing, medicine, the arts, and technology; material on the Chinese Civil Service Examination; associations, schools, foundations, missions and their work in the Far East.

The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, notebooks, and diaries (of Vladimir Kozli︠a︡ninov's brother Boris), documents, photographs and printed materials. The collection primarily concerns the monarchist movement in France and the history of the Imperial Horse Guard. Correspondents include Pavel Skoropadskiĭ and members of the Imperial family in emigration. There is a document signed by Anatoliĭ Lunacharskiĭ dated 1918, and a photostat of a decree by Catherine II granting the title of count to the Orlovs (1762). Printed material primarily concerns the monarchist movement in emigration. Included also is a copy of a book by V.F. Kozli︠a︡ninov, "Manuel Commʹemortatif de la Garde a Cheval" (1931).

Correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, and printed materials of Lamont. Letters from George Santayana (1863-1952), with Lamont and others, a few early manuscripts, interviews and other notes on Santayana, and general correspondence about him. A series of letters from John Dewey to Lamont, discussing his ideas on humanism and religion. Extensive correspondence with the family of John Masefield including approximately 100 letters from Judith Masefield to Lamont, primarily written shortly after the death in 1967 of her father the poet John Masefield, and dealing with his life and work. Also, a few of her own writings; a number of the letters are descriptive of historical England and her concern for contemporary events. Among the letters from other family members are fifteen from Lamont's nephew, Jack Masefield, and 53 from his cousin Sir Peter G. Masefield, 1970-1983, conveying news about Judith as well as interest in the publication of John Masefield's letters from the World War I years and their continuing appreciation of Lamont's work on Masefield. There is discussion on the publication of Masefield's letters to Corliss' mother, Florence Lamont, printed in 1979.

Letters, documents, memorabilia, printed material, prints, medals and sculpture relating to Lincoln and the Civil War period. Included are a letter from Edward Everett, a Philip Henry Sheridan autograph, a document by W. H. Herndon, Linclon's law partner, 19th century leters and documents and 20th century clippings, pictures, etc. of or about Lincoln. The collection features a John Rogers sculpture, "The Council of War," several busts of Lincoln and other two and three dimensional works of art.

The American Academic Freedom Project at Columbia conducted a historical survey of the rise, development and changes in academic freedom in the history of the United States, and an analysis of the contemporary situation, including a study of the respective roles of governing boards, administrative officers, faculties and students. The 1955 volume, Academic Freedom in Our Time: A Study prepared for the American Academic Freedom Project at Columbia University, was undertaken by the Director Robert. M. MacIver. This collection includes the Project's research and administrative files as well as the book's editorial and publication files. The material is arranged under such headings as Censorship, Pressure Groups, Communism, Student Rights, etc. and includes pamphlets, newspaper clippings, reports, and correspondence. The general theme of the book was the same as that of the Columbia University Bicentennial in 1954, "Man's right to knowledge and the free use thereof."

Correspondence, manuscripts, subject files, and photographs of Tannenbaum, including typewritten lists of property records in the various states of Mexico, ca. 1926; and clippings relating to Mexico. Some of these materials were used in the preparation of his book THE MEXICAN AGRARIAN REVOLUTION. Also, personal letters and files relating to the Farm Security Program, and specifically the Bankhead Bill and the Farm Tenant Bill, 1937, 1934-1937.
