This series contains VHS, Broadcast cassettes, audio cassettes, and U-Matic videocassette. The bulk consists of David Dinkins' interviews on both radio and television. There are also promotional videos from companies soliciting advertising clientele. These materials are arranged chronologically.

Largely organized by media format, this series consists mostly VHS tapes, but also contains DVDs, CDs, Beta tapes, 7 inch-Magnetic Audio Reels, along with a few 5 inch reels. 2 Inch Tape, reels, DV Cam, MiniDV, Floppy Disks. There seems to have been an effort by the creator to transfer older formats into digital media, as the titles some of the items are duplicated through being digitally transferred. The reels and other magnetic formats have been put in cold storage.

Series 5, Audiovisual and born-digital materials, contains all of the audiovisual and most of the born-digital materials (apart from one floppy disk, which was grouped with Series 2 Village Voice, Subseries 2) in Karen Durbin papers, and represents the years 1989-2014. This includes audiocassettes with film-related interviews and music (notably from American vocal trio of sisters, The Roches, who are personal friends of Durbin's), one hard drive, CDs, VHS tapes (mostly taped events that Durbin took part in), and floppy disks. The floppy disks contain both personal and professional writing.

This series includes audio cassettes, film reel, DVD, CD, and other AV formats both made by Baraka and by others. The series is arranged by medium, with each medium grouping given its own particular arrangement. The A/V materials contain VHS, Beta, 16mm and 35mm film reel, and DVD. The 174 numbered video reels are helical scan open reel film. The bulk of these materials contain footage of Baraka's various political activities throughout the seventies, including his involvement with the Kawaida Towers, the African Women's Conference, Black Women's United Front, and the Congress of African Peoples. A/V materials are arranged in the order in which they were given by Baraka. Finally, the audio group consists primarily of materials not created by Baraka, and previously released. However, of particular interest is a 1994 recording of a Baraka poetry reading, and a number of copies of a vinyl recording of songs written by Baraka, performed by The Advanced Workers with the Anti-Imperialist Singers. The audio materials are arranged by medium.

This series comprises cassettes, VHS tapes, and photographs pertaining to Jones' personal life and literary career. The VHS tapes contain recordings of Jones' appearances on various documentaries and television shows, primarily relating to the Beat/Downtown New York literary scene. The cassette tapes primarily consist of recordings of Jones' radio appearances and interviews, as well as public readings of her works.
