Among the correspondents are members of the family of William Makepeace Thackeray, as well as John Galsworthy, Sydney Cockerell, and Virginia Woolf. Included are 30 letters from Walter De la Mare to Miss Frank. There is also a copy of Miss Frank's book, GREAT AUTHORS IN THEIR YOUTH.

Historical and literary letters and manuscripts collected by Clifford include letters from Samuel Johnson, diaries of Hester Lynch Salusbury Thrale Piozzi and those of her second husband, Gabriel Piozzi; a review of Clifford's book on Mrs. Piozzi and approximately nine drafts of one of Virginia Woolfs last typescripts.

Correspondence, manuscripts, proofs, and miscellaneous documents relating to the Westgate Signed Editions, a series of signed first editions of American and British authors, published in 1929-1930 by the Westgate Press, San Francisco, under the direction of Oscar Lewis. The collection contains correspondence from Sherwood Anderson, Havelock Ellis, Zona Gale, Lewis Mumford, Bertrand Russell, Wilbur Daniel Steele, Ruth Suckow, Frank Swinnerton, Rebecca West, and Virginia Woolf, as well as carbon copies of Oscar Lewis' replies.
